INROADS

INROADS, Inc. , partners with The Hord Foundation in the Danbury area. The program offers a process whereby talented minority youth are placed in business and industry to prepare them for corporate and community leadership. The process, involving meaningful summer internships, self-development workshops, and year-round counseling is open, on a competitive basis, to top students from completion of high school through their senior year at college. To maintain their eligibility, these students must maintain high academic standing, and significant community involvement. Typically, sponsoring corporations offer students permanent employment after graduation. The Hord Foundation formalized its long-term relationship with INROADS in 1999.

Benefits to The Hord Foundation

  • Allies with and garners support from area corporations around mutual education and labor force development issues; and
  • The INROADS partnership that provides student employment gives value-added benefits to The Hord Foundation's scholarship.
  • Benefits to Corporations

80% of the graduates receiving job offers from sponsoring corporations accept them. The significant work experience and scholarship assistance enables the corporation to strengthen the bond with the student, thereby, increasing its chances of recruiting this top talent into its permanent work force.

    Benefits to the Student

  • Provides paid internships to students during high school and college careers and Hord Scholarships to help defray the costs of higher education; and
  • Provides students early insights and experience in the profession they expect to establish as a career.
